The Boeing P-8A Poseidon has now reached squadron service with the U.S. Navy. The second squadron to deploy overseas was the Mad Foxes of VP-5. The squadron relieved VP-16 at Kadena Airbase on Okinawa in 2014. VP-16 left several airframes behind when they rotated home, which were taken up by VP-5. Another squadron that is now transitioning to the P-8A is VP-45The Pelicans. Both squadrons are based at NAS Jacksonville.
