Material: veneer thickness of 0.3mm, laminated: beech and oak
of deck: Deck is trimmed to the veneer to match the historical facts. Design of peripheral boards called « Waterway ». Laying of individual boards. Their endings to the waterwat, especially on the bow so called « Hacking » and narrowing towards the rear. Marked pins by which were nailed to the deck-beams – beams holding the deck so called « Treenline ». All this accords with practices at a given time during the construction of the ship. All this corresponds to the plans of the ship, as shown on the figure.
Schematic plan of the fuselage and the front part of the main deck is from the book The 44 Gun Frigate USS Constitution, which can be found among the books on my website. Appearance of the decks can also be seen in the images of virtual tours of boat through Google Maps.
Veneer deck precisely fits on a plastic board this model. There are cut out all the openings in the deck, as on the plastic parts. You can see a clear difference from the attached photos of the plastic deck of a kit and deck accompanied by a veneer deck overlay. Original deck is also very difficult to put together during model building.
