Su-27 Compass Ghost Ukrainian Flanker Camouflage Paint Mask set
Suggested scale: 1/32
Suggested use: Trumpeter
The set includes two sheet of masks (shown in the picture). The masks are made from thin masking tape, which is easy to be peeled off and doesnt leave any stains. The tape is tested on clear and painted model too. If carefully removed after painting, they can be used over and over again. It is flexible and easily applied over curved surfaces. Semitransparent for easy and accurate placing.
Su-27 Ukrainian Flanker
is currently the most recognizable Flanker in the World. After 1991, Ukrainians substituted the standard Soviet camo scheme with one designed locally. Unfortunately, the Worldwide fame of the Ukrainian /digital/ pattern came with the start of Russo-Ukrainian War that started in 2022. Before that and throughout the years, some variations were applied, ranging from Blizzard Camo, Splinter Camo, Digital Pattern and finally the Compass Ghost. The Digital Camo is one of the most challenging for modeling, but in the same time, Compass Ghost offers different perspective and allows planes grace and beauty to shine truly. The latter represents more western approach to painting military jets.
Compass Ghost Camo
That is the latest camouflage scheme that was applied on Ukrainian Su-27 fighter planes. It was suggested by western analysts after the first two years of the War with Russia and is based on the well known F-15A/C camo pattern. It features completely different approach towards the painting of the plane, especially compared with original Flanker design. It is also a serios deviation from Eagles pattern too, but the basic idea is the same. Light grey tones, focusing on parts of the plane that with speed in flight become hardly recognizable. Similar paint schemes were applied on many other Russian and Chinese jets thanx to its versatility and results. As of the release of this mask set, only single seat aircraft have been spotted wearing the Compass scheme. In general, very few jets will be seen with this pattern, due to the new fighters in the Ukrainian Air ForceF-16 and Mirage 2000.
